Computing resources are critical to the administrative, educational, and
research functions of CSE. As many of these resources are centralized or
otherwise shared, and because the actions of one may affect all, the fair
and competent management of these resources is essential.
The Computing Committee (CompCom) sets CSE computing policy, especially
as regards the use of shared resources, such as CSE computing staff
(CSEHelp) and computing infrastructure. CompCom also rules on policy
exceptions and matters of interpretation. As an organization, CSEHelp's
role is to implement these policies. CompCom will require reporting
from CSEHelp on how policies are being implemented, how they are working,
and may direct how they are implemented.
Computing situations believed to be deserving of either an exception to,
a reinterpretation of, or a different implementation of, a current CompCom
policy can be addressed to CompCom (compcom@cs). CompCom will handle
policy requests promptly.
