Setting up Mail Lists

  • Upon request, CSEhelp (csehelp@cs) will set up mailman (see also here) mail lists for any CSE graduate or undergraduate class at the beginning of each quarter.
  • The class mail list is initially empty and is owned by the instructor. It is the instructor's responsibility to maintain the list using the mailman commands via the web interface, the link for which you will receive once the list is set up.
  • The email address for class mail lists will appear in the form,
       cseXXX@cs.ucsd.edu

(replace XXX with the course number).
  • Class mail lists expire at the end of the quarter. If any archiving had been set up by the list owner (it is not turned on by default), then the archives will go away as well.

Other Mail List Options for Undergraduate Classes
Some instructors may prefer to handle undergraduate class mail list administration on Academic Computing Services (ACS) systems instead of CSE systems. ACS is able to set up mail lists for undergraduate courses who are using ACS computing resources. For more information, send email to ACS consultants.
