| What we're about Media computing is the creative use of computers to manipulate graphics, audio, video, and text, in an integrated way through programming. In this cluster, students will master media computing concepts, and through this experience, get a taste for some of the deeper ideas in computer science. This cluster is organized as a single course, with three interwoven threads of learning. In the first thread, students learn about basic principles of programming, and apply their skills to the processing of multimedia objects. The second thread focuses on creative multimedia authoring, where students learn how to use advanced audio and video applications. Finally, the last thread deals with issues that go beyond media computing, where we explore some of the fundamental ideas and areas of computer science. Using their acquired knowledge, students will work in teams to create final project videos, to be presented in UCSD's state-of-the-art Calit2 Digital Theater. |
