Readers and Tutors

The CSE Department is seeking qualified undergraduates to work as Readers or Tutors for CSE courses. For a list of courses being offered each quarter, please refer to the undergraduate course schedule.

About Tutoring

Tutoring benefits not only the students who need additional help in the class, but also those who provide the service. For many CSE students tutoring is the first step into their professional future, their first contact with the professional world. The tutoring experience on a resume is as good as a guarantee for an internship or a full time job with Amazon, Google, Microsoft, or Qualcomm, to mention just a few.
The growing popularity of the Tutoring Program resulted in the need to create a student organization - Students Achieving, Guiding, Enriching (SAGE), to accommodate more qualified students the department is not able to employ due to a limited budget. Engaging SAGE volunteers allows a greater number of students to experience assisting their fellow students in the classroom, in a “students helping students” atmosphere. Eventually, a SAGE volunteer gets to be hired as a paid tutor. A SAGE volunteer needs the instructor’s consent to become a SAGE member. To find out more about SAGE membership, please visit their website:
