CSE127 - Introduction to Computer Security
Units: 4
Course Description: Topics include basic cryptography, security/threat analysis, access control,
auditing, security models, distributed systems security, and theory benind common attack
and defense techniques. The class will go over formal models as well as the bits and bytes
of security exploits.
Format: 3 hours of lecture per week, 1 hour discussion section per week, 4 hours of computer
lab, and 4 hours of outside preparation.
Prerequisites: CSE 21 or Math 15B, and CSE 120.
Other restrictions: Majors only.
Offered: One quarter per year, normally in Winter.
