Outdoors.
San Diego is lined with miles of beaches. A favorite beach is Torrey Pines State Beach.
Near the UCSD campus is La Jolla Shores Beach.
You can rent kayaks from one of the shops on Avenida De La Playa
and explore the underwater park.
Pacific Beach has a boardwalk, with restaurants and
cafe's (end of Garnet Ave).
Black's Beach east of campus is a nude beach. San
Elijo Lagoon behind Solana Beach is a bird sanctuary. At the end of Sunset Cliffs Boulevard
you can climb the cliffs. Other attractions include San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Parkas
well as Balboa Park and its
museums.

Entertainment.
The San Diego Reader
comes out on Thursday. Check the listings for dining and entertainment and look for restaurant coupons

There are dance clubs along the western half of Garnet in Pacific
Beach has dance clubs, and bars, including a Blues bar called Blind Melon's. There
are pricier clubs on 5th downtown; try the one underneath Cafe Sevilla or Ole Madrid.
Check the La Jolla Playhouse for current shows.
For a good microbrewery, check out Carl Strauss's Columbia Brewery, 1157
Columbia (near B St. downtown), tel. 234-2739. There are also branches
in downtown La Jolla and in Sorrento Valley.
